While road tripping through Golden Bay I decided to go in search of an amazing fresh vege farm stall I’d heard was somewhere near Pohara. Instead I discovered a short walk through an area called The Grove. It’s about a 15 minute loop with a great lookout point over the surrounding farmland and valley.
There’s been a huge amount of rain in the area and some flooding so the track was pretty slippery but not unmanageable. When you find places like this you can see why New Zealand was the perfect location for Lord of the Rings as it has an amazing unspoiled otherworldly feel. Right up until the wood pigeons start making a racket and flapping about reminding you that you’re not in some epic movie!
