Te Toiokawharu (highest point in the Waitakeres)

By happy accident I stumbled upon the highest point in the Waitakere Ranges. It’s a fairly decent walk to get to and if like me, you hadn’t been expecting it, it’s a great reward.

The rainforest in the area is amazing with plenty of interesting plants to look at (including some stunning Kauri and Rimu trees) and a great boardwalk nearby which is a relief from the muddy track you have to climb up to get there.
