Probably New Zealand’s oldest protected forest Riccarton Bush is an oasis of forest in the urban sprawl that is Christchurch. In addition to being home to the only remnant of lowland Kahikatea in Canterbruy, Riccarton Bush now has Great Spotted Kiwi and Tree Weta thanks to a dedicated conservation effort. The main track is a gentle loop/boardwalk with signs pointing out a lot of the different tree species as you pass them.
