Mt Duppa is the easiest track to access in the Bryant Range. It offers a great array of bush types from lowland scrub and beech right through to gnarly cloud forest type vegetation. Whilst the summit offers views down into the valleys below its not particularly scenic.
Mt Duppa is home to several very cool native species ranging from a distinct species of powelliphanta (Powelliphanta hochstetteri consobrina) to noisy kaka. If you do the walk on a rainy day you may even be lucky enough to see one of the rare snails out feeding.
I’ve found that with the dense beech forest it can be a refreshingly cool walk to do on a hot summers day and having foolishly done it during a big rain storm also quite sheltered from wind and heavy rain under the canopy.
